It all started with a card game.

One fateful day in 1982, Bernard and Rosemarie Rubel stumbled upon an endangered species card game while visiting the Munich Zoo in Germany and the first inklings of what would become the family’s “toys that teach” business was born.

Fueled by their love of the outdoors and all things wild, including the imagination of children, they transformed that little rummy game into the inaugural collection of Safari figures.
