Just Add Water | 12 Months of Themed Baths

Just add water for a joyful mood boosting experience. Move beyond the mundane nightly bath by adding a little themed pizzaz!  As we know, bath time is a wonderful way to bond with your children and sneak in some unplugged, unstructured, creative play. In addition, water play is filled with sensational sensory opportunities, playful learning experiences, and organic STEM explorations.

  • *Use only fake lights in or near water. Electrical lights in water will cause electrocution

 

DIY Recipes

Shaving Cream Washable Puff Paint

Ingredients:

  • Shaving Cream (Sensitive Skin versions are available)
  • Liquid Watercolor Paint or Food Coloring

Directions:

  1. Add about 1 C of shaving cream into several separate containers (a muffin tin works great!)
  2. Add a few drops of liquid water color paint or food coloring to shaving cream

*Watercolor paint tends to be more vibrant and less likely to stain. 

*Immediate cleanup is recommended after bath time to prevent the possibility of staining on bathtub walls.

 

Bubble Bath Washable Bathtub Paint

Ingredients:

  • Bubble Bath (¼ C per color)
  • Water (1 TBSP per color)
  • Cornstarch (1 TBSP per color)
  • Liquid Watercolor Paints or Food Coloring

Directions:

  1. Pour ¼ C of bubble bath into container (1 container per color).
  2. Add 1 TBSP of water to the bubble bath and stir to combine.
  3. Add 1 TBSP of cornstarch to bubble bath/water mixture and stir. This mixture will appear to be a little foamy or bubbly.
  4. Add a couple of drops of Liquid Watercolor or Food Coloring.

*Watercolor paint tends to be more vibrant and less likely to stain. 

*Immediate cleanup is recommended after bath time to prevent the possibility of staining on bathtub walls.

 

DIY Floating Bath Play Tray

 Supplies:

  • Plastic Tray or Lid
  • Pool Noodles
  • Cutting Tool

Directions:

  1. Cut Pool Noodle length to fit each side of the Tray.
  2. Make a Slit along one side of each of the pool noodle pieces.
  3. Insert each tray edge into the cut slit of the corresponding pool noodle section.
  4. The tray should now float.
