Maya's Hope Project was launched in January 2009. After Maya Rowencak visited orphanages in the Philippines in December 2008, she was moved by the necessity to aid Bethlehem House of Bread and St. Martin de Porres. Maya contacted hundreds of companies, and Safari Ltd. was the first toy company that responded to her donation request. Immediately, Safari Ltd. shipped more than 500 toys which were distributed to the children in June 2009. Maya's Hope Project has grown since January, and it is thanks to Safari Ltd.'s initial donation and belief in this project that sparked Maya's drive to continue to bring smiles and hope to abandoned children. Safari Ltd.’s gesture of compassion has given these children across an ocean an opportunity to treasure their childhood innocence.
